In Germany and in whole in Europe regulations to protect the environment are very strict for yarn dyers.
It begins with the utilised colourants and goes on through the whole dyeing process to the effluent.
So that the dyeing process endangers neither the employees, nor the air, nor the water, lavation processes and particularly the avoidance of dangerous chemicals are crucial steps.
That is the only way to ensure a product that is free of dangerous toxins in the end.

The whole world suffers a lot through this environmental pollution.
There are no regulations for concerns to protect the environment in countries like China, India and Pakistan which entail tangible punishments.
If there actually are are any punishments on environmental pollution they (often little fines) mostly are neither applied nor will there any changes be dictated and implemented.
However proucts like socks - which directly contact the skin whereby contaminats can be dissolved out of the textiles in the shoes through perspiration which then can be absorbed through the skin - should not be contaminated in any form.
